Get a Load of This 1958 Corvette Mod!
Digging this Corvette? It almost looks real enough to drive, huh? Unfortunately you can’t! This scaled 1958 remote control Corvette certainly had me fooled after stumbling across it in a Radio Control Car Action report.
Much of the car’s true vintage ‘Vette look can be credited to the tedious work owner Dan Boyle has put into transforming this toy into a thing of pure beauty. For example, the RC chassis was built with a custom straight axle front-end fabricated from stainless steel on leaf springs.
The miniature corvette also features fabricated headers that were built by hand-bending heavy copper wire for the V8 engine, and features metal velocity stacks and a scale battery with wiring. Boyle even went as far as fitting the car with period-correct, 1958 wheels and tires, with the rears shaved down to turn them into slicks.
About the only thing missing here is a video clip of the car doing a burnout on a scaled dragstrip. Now that would be something else!
