Chevy Put Blue Stripes on a Cruze and Called It a TRON Tribute

This past Monday marked the first day of Auto China 2016 in Beijing. Amongst the debuts of the Porsche 718 Cayman, the LeEco LeSee (LeSigh), and the Mazda CX-4, there is this: the TRON-inspired Chevrolet Cruz.

It’s a hilarious show car that is supposed to pay tribute to the 2010 flick. You see, Chevrolet is the official automotive sponsor of Shanghai Disney Resort, which is opening to the public for the first time on June 16, 2016. In the “Tomorrowland” section of the park, there is the TRON Lightcycle Power Run attraction. Chevy, Disney, Sponsors, Auto Show, you get how it all went down.

So with a car that supposedly “embodies Disney’s futuristic thinking and ingenious technologies,” you’d think Chevy must have done some wild and wacky things to it, right? Meh, not really. It has stripes on the outside (“special metallic paint”), stripes on the inside (“stunning blue lines”), ambient lighting (“ice blue”), black rims, and a giant TRON patch just in case you still didn’t know. WOW.

Try a little less next time, Chevy.
