1957 Chevy Gasser

Kentucky’s Danchuk Tri-Five Nationals is celebrating 60 years of the ’57 Chevy by giving away a Woody’s Hot Rodz-built gasser.

For some, gassers represent the ultimate drag car. For others, the 1957 Chevy is the ultimate car, period. So it goes without saying that there’s something really special about a 1957 Chevy gasser. And this one, built by the genius gearheads at Woody’s Hot Rodz in Bright, Indiana, might be the nicest one we’ve seen. Ever. Better yet, they are actually giving this piece of vintage drag racing art away. What the what what?!?

Woody’s will be gifting this gorgeous gasser to one lucky participant at the Danchuk Tri-Five Nationals, which is happening in Bowling Green, Kentucky, on August 11 and 12. All you need to do is pay the $65 entry fee and show up for the giveaway at 6 p.m. on August 12. That’s a pretty cheap price of entry for such an amazing piece of work, not to mention admission to a great event.

The car itself is an authentic and patriotic tribute to the gasser era. The front end is a ’60s vintage, forward-tilting fiberglass one-piece unit. But everything else, including the steel Woody’s-built body, is brand-new. No Limit Engineering provided the Badder Asser Gasser (BAG) chassis, with adjustable shocks at all four corners. Out back, there’s an old school 48″ ladder bar setup to put the power to the ground.

This 1957 Chevy gasser is a true work of art. So much so that the new owner faces a truly tough decision: Drive it like a real race car or baby it?

And power comes in spades from a 502 cubic inch Chevy big block built by Ed Rinke Performance. It’s topped off with a Hilborn Individual Runner intake manifold that looks old school but uses a modern Holley EFI setup. Behind the beastly engine lies a GearStar Transmissions built 4L80E transmission, sending power back to a 9-inch Ford rear end with 4.56:1 gears.

The interior and exterior might scream race car, but the level of detailing screams show car. From the turned aluminum interior panels to the stunning paintwork, this 1957 Chevy gasser is a true work of art. So much so that the new owner faces a truly tough decision: Drive it like an real race car or baby it? We have not doubt which one will win out, eventually.
