Revival of Legendary Yenko Moniker Stands as SVE’s Finest Work to Date

Dodge currently sits atop the horsepower wars among the big three American automotive manufacturers. Thanks to one word, of course: Hellcat. And since neither Ford nor Chevy seems interested in topping that 707 hp, 6.2 liter Hemi, Specialty Vehicle Engineering is looking to fill the void. The result? The 2017 Yenko Corvette, equipped with a beastly 800 hp, 6.8 liter fire-breathing V8 under the hood. The company recently tweeted out a shot of their awesome revival.

SVE builds everything from 800 hp Cadillac Escalades to lifted and supercharged Silverados. But this revival of the legendary Yenko moniker stands as their finest work to date. The heart of the beast is the bored out 416 ci LT1, which has been fortified with stronger internals. The stout bottom end comes in handy when you’ve got a custom machined 2.9 liter supercharger on top.

Transmission options include the 7-speed manual or 8-speed automatic. The Yenko Corvette comes as a convertible or coupe, and both come equipped with a host of custom features. They include a variety of color and stripe options, all of which mimic the original Yenko cars. And of course, special badges and embroidery all over the place reminds you that you’re driving something special.

Only 50 Yenko Corvettes will be built, and as you would imagine, they ain’t cheap. Expect to add around $46,000 to the price of your $65,000-plus Grand Sport. But where else can you buy a turnkey Hellcat slayer that comes with a three-year, 36,000 mile warranty? Certainly not from Chevrolet, at least not at the moment.

With the 93 hp edge and a huge weight advantage, the Yenko Corvette should be capable of blowing away almost anything on the street. Your only challenge? Getting those massive rear tires to hook up as 750 lb-ft of earth rotating torque assaults them full force.
