How would you feel if your beloved Chevy Camaro was in reality part Ford Mustang? Would it make it less special? Well, if it were the year 2018, that could very well be true…

According to news out of Detroit, the 10 speed automatic transmission originally co-developed by Ford and General Motors that was intended to be bolted on the all-new and upcoming 2017 Ford Raptor and the mighty Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, is now lined up to be used on the iconic Ford Mustang and non-ZL1 Camaros.

It’s certainly not the first time that Ford and GM or other manufacturers for that matter have collaborated to save on development and production costs for new vital parts, but as far as we know, it’s the first time that two major rivals will sport the same parts on two opposing teams.

That’d be like the Chevy Silverado and Ford F-150 using the same of a particular component, it just sounds off.

Still, there isn’t a final date on behalf of either manufacturer as far as when this will actually go into effect, but both parties mentioned it’d be very unlikely to implement it before the year 2018.
