Cruze & Impala Rule the Road in Respective Categories of Annual Review

If you require further proof that the renaissance at Chevrolet is in full effect, this should fulfill that requirement. Consumer Reports, long heralded for its unbiased reviews, has recognized not one, but two Chevys in 2017. Both the Cruze and the Impala made the grade for this year’s most recommended cars.

People pay attention to the annual Consumer Reports list because they are about as independent as it gets. Instead of receiving perks and loaners from automakers, Consumer Reports actually buys the cars it tests in an attempt to emulate the experience consumers go through as accurately as possible.

This year, the Cruze took top honors in the compact car segment, knocking off the Subaru Impreza, which held the spot for several years. It also beat out the much ballyhooed Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla. Testing goes beyond reliability and factors in performance, safety and owner satisfaction.

The iconic publication notes that the Cruze drives like a much more substantial car. “The formula is simple: Put the Malibu and Impala in a shrink ray, reducing scale but preserving the commendable driving manners and generous available features. The result is a hushed, smooth-riding sedan that’s roomy enough to be a budget-friendly alternative to a mid-sized car.”

Joining the Cruze is the Impala, which once again takes top honors for the large sedan category. Consumer Reports praises the Impala for its “responsive and secure” handling, as well as its “roomy and supportive” seats. The most flattering praise bestowed upon the large sedan comes from its luxury car like ride. Consumer Reports even notes that “sedan shoppers browsing upmarket choices would be wise to give this smart, competitively priced alternative serious consideration.”

All in all, a great showing for Chevrolet. And concrete proof that the Bow Tie is back on the up and up.
