When and Where You Can Buy a Chevy Bolt
Here’s How to Make Sense of Chevy Bolt’s Confusing Staggered Release Schedule
If you’re like a lot of folks out there right now, you probably want to get your hands on a Chevy Bolt. It’s no surprise the new EV is in hot demand. With a reasonable base price of $36,620 and a 238 mile range, the Bolt really has no competition at the moment. But unless you live in California, figuring out how to get your hands on one could be a little difficult.
That’s because Chevy is staggering the Bolt’s release on a state-by-state basis. And even when it goes on sale in your state, it’s not a given that every dealer will have the EV on their lot. Dealerships must first obtain certification to sell the Bolt, as was the case with the Volt plug-in hybrid. So how the heck do you track one down? Thankfully, Chevy is working on it.
The automaker released this state-by-state schedule last week.
Chevy is already taking orders for the Bolt EV in California, Massachusetts, Oregon, Virginia, New York, Maryland, and New Jersey. By July, buyers in all 50 states will be able to order theirs. Chevy is understandably prioritizing the markets with the most demand for both EV’s and plug-in hybrids.
To figure out which dealers in your area will be selling the Bolt, head over to Chevy’s Dealer Locator tool on their website. Key in your zip code and a list of dealerships in your area will populate. Now, simply look for “Bolt EV Sales & Service” in the bottom right hand corner.
And there you have it. Even if you aren’t lucky enough to live in one of the seven states already taking orders, at least you’ll know when and where to buy yours when the time comes.
