If I was getting enough water in my gas to be thinking about a separator l think I would switch gas stations.

I'd be sure to check the specs on the unit you buy. The average marine setup may not have psi and flow ratings high enough for the vortec fuel systems.

I've got a aftermarket unit on one of my diesels mounted on the inside frame rail under the cab. I just roll under on a creeper to service.

So would this work? What's the fuel pressure on a 5.7l vortec

Yes that will work. I'm not sure why you would do it, but hey it's your truck.
