Default Returning to stock wheel problem, 93 c2500 6 lug

My truck came to me with 15" custom wheels. Time to buy tires and I am trying to go back to stock 16" 6 lug wheels. The problem is, every stock wheel I have tried, steel or aluminum, rubs the upper control arms on both sides of the truck making horrible grinding noise and gouging the rims. I even tried replacing the upper and lower ball joints, to no effect. What could be wrong? Thanks.

You're likely using wheels from a k1500. The stock 16's on the c2500 are more narrow with no offset. The way to tell a stock c2500 wheel is by the center hole, much smaller diameter and will not fit on a 4x4 1/2ton.
