View Full Version : SS Colorado
techboy07 12-21-2007, 10:41 PM So how about this ellieged SS Colorado? its supposed to boast a 5.3 gen 4 and a 6 speed man trans or a 4L60E auto trans with kevlar bands, corvette servo, ect... also, another rumor going through the dealer is that the duramax is going to be downsized and stuffed into a half ton... i'll believe both when i see them though...
EvansBlue 12-21-2007, 11:03 PM I hope so. That would be a good thing for Chevy to do. I bet the diesel would be really popular with its good mileage.
mitchell87 12-27-2007, 11:33 PM Yea there is a 4.8L Diesel scheduled for 09 in the half tons. It is rated at 310 HP and 520 lp.-ft.

MyChevyPro 01-16-2008, 05:21 PM They need to do something to get more colodaro's on the road. I still want to see the ss HHR in person. [&:]
ehhget 02-25-2008, 03:08 PM Yeah I dont see many Colorados out there. I read an competition in Car and Driver with the Colorado in it and it came in dead dead last. I remember one guy saying "its almost like chevy didnt want to compete" the nissans and toyotas blew it away. Lot of complints about the interior, they need to fix that truck and get back to S-10 sales.
rabbit0102030 03-23-2008, 08:20 PM Well c'mon its a 5 cylinder engine that puts out less than alot of tuner cars. Personally I think the design of the Colorado is hideous, even if they made an SS model with the 5.3 putting out 350 HP or more I wouldn't even think about buying it. My opinion they should bring the S-10 back with a new body style and interior more closely resembling the new silverados and keep the 4.3 but upgrade the electronics and tranny to give it better mileage and crank more power.
EvansBlue 03-24-2008, 07:46 AM I agree with you there about bringing back the s-series. I like the Colorado though... I drove one for a while and I was surprised with how much MORE powerful the inline 5 is than our V6s. What ultimately flabbergasted me was how well the Colorado pulled our boat as compared to my Blazer.
rabbit0102030 03-24-2008, 02:32 PM I don't know Brent, when I rode in one it felt like I was riding inside a box, inside a box. The power was serious lagging. I wouldn't drive that truck if Chevy gave it to me for free. I'd sell it and buy some stuff for the blaze!
EvansBlue 03-24-2008, 05:26 PM lol. Some things never change Troy!
ehhget 03-24-2008, 05:27 PM Thats the same engine in the Trailblazer I think and my friends goes just fine IMO. I think it is a pretty good looking truck overall except the trim level that has the black fender flairs - they are all squared off and it looks NASTY!!!
EvansBlue 03-24-2008, 05:29 PM The TB has the inline six and a V8 package was offerred. I think the Colorado is optioned with a 3.8L V6 package also.
ehhget 03-24-2008, 05:45 PM Actually I think you're right.
rabbit0102030 03-24-2008, 06:02 PM Your right Brent some things just don't change!
jmack91z28 03-26-2008, 07:18 AM My buddy had a Rado and I loved it, I hate him now cause he sold it for a Toyota. The inline 5 actually had a lot of power, more than any blazer does I know that. But still, the thought of having a 5 cylinder sucks, they do need to bring back the 4.3 V6 as base and 5.3 V8 for the SS trim, I would buy one for damn sure. They need better interior though, I agree. Seats are hideous and dash is cheap and plasticy. More comfratable Leather seats or cloth.
CasperLT1 03-07-2009, 11:30 AM Hi crew I own a Colorado and like it very much. I have a Lt1 with a 4L60E trany that came out of my chevy Impala ss and soon have plans to drop it off i my colorado. alog with a 3in drop and some serious ground effects. Will post a picture really soon.
Gwampa 03-07-2009, 12:35 PM A small box interior with a front drive V8? How do you keep the ass end on the ground? (counter weights in the bed?). Yeah and it's UGLY too.
OK, now that I've sat in one it ain't bad (4 door with short bed). Salesman said V8 would be available in 4WD, so's that can't be all bad. Still seems like a big engine for such a little truck. Inside was tight still but inside looked OK. See, old people can change their minds.
John81 03-28-2009, 08:45 AM Yeah, a nice car indeed.
