jmack91z28 05-08-2008, 07:02 AM I didn't know you had a camaro, what year is it, like a 78' or so? It's amazing how much like a trans-am they look you know? Especially yours, it looks like a bandit edition almost. It looks good. I miss my Z sometimes..... :(
EvansBlue 05-08-2008, 01:10 PM Well its not mine per se, its my Dad's, but I'm the only one who drives it, fills it up with gas, and washes it.
Its an 81 Camaro. It needs transmission work. I'm pretty sure I've narrowed it down to the modulator valve... but anyway heres the stats on it:
350 V8 bored 20 overduring rebuild
High comp pistons
mild cam
Holley lo-pro carb (to fit under cowl)
373 rear-end gears... stock was 308s
True air induction
I just filled it up with 93 octane and I won't tell you how much I paid.... but I painfully paid. Gotta pay to play I guess....
jmack91z28 05-08-2008, 02:20 PM Yea, that was the down side, 93 octane. Last time I had my camaro I remember I had to pay like $3 for 93, so i'm glad I don't have it now. I'm guessing you paid around $3.79?
I'm also guessing you have a TH350 tranny. What is the tranny doing that it acts weird?
EvansBlue 05-08-2008, 03:45 PM Yeah its a TH350. When it trys to shift into second, it bogs down and I have to kick it to get it to come out from bogging down. It shifts fine into drive, but when I let off it drops back down into 2nd.
I paid $3.86 for the gas.
jmack91z28 05-09-2008, 06:33 AM I really don't know much about transmissions, but the modulator valve is externally mounted isn't it? And isn't it vaccum actuated?
$3.86 is just un american in my opinion. The sad thing is, it's only gonna get worse before it gets any better... ya know
EvansBlue 05-10-2008, 10:08 AM Yes. I havent gotten a chance to put it on a lift, but I did check the vacuum lines and they all seem to be intact.
Thats not the worse.... I heard that barrels of crude are soon going to shoot up to $200 a barrel and we will be paying $5-$7 a gallon within the next two years, but don't get too uptight, it wasn't a reliable source that I heard it from.
northey87 05-10-2008, 12:10 PM My folks are paying $3.89 for 87 octane out in CA.[:'(]Can't imagine what it would be for premium.
By the way, good lookin' car!!
jmack91z28 05-10-2008, 07:05 PM I don't know, i've heard the opposite. Fro what i've heard gas will get a little bit higher through out the summer but should drop off real quick come fall or so. But no body knows, we'll just have to wait and see for ourselfs I guess.
dodge_ss/t 06-01-2008, 06:11 PM nice car, my dad used to have a z28 back before my time. any pics of the motor and interior?
EvansBlue 06-02-2008, 07:59 AM I'll try to get some pics of the interior and exterior. The interior is just as perfect as the exterior.
fireman526 06-02-2008, 09:14 AM Man everytime I look at it, I get mad that I dont own it :)
Wanna see some more pics!! Did you guys put an exhaust system on the car ie. headers, aftermarket mufflers ??
ed1le 08-18-2008, 09:16 PM Super nice Z...a guy down the street just bought a real nice t-top 80 or81 Z28, only seen it in his garage a couple times, haven't had the chance to go down to check it out but it looks sharp
thomatt12 09-10-2008, 09:14 PM Your Camaro Z28 looks really good! I like it! It reminds me of my grandpa's old Z28 back in the days. If only we kept it.
