I am replacing the brake pads and the rotor's on a 98 V6 camero, and I
am having troubles getting the caliper to fit back over the new pads
and rotor. I have no experience with what seems to be a simple dual
piston set-up on this caliper. Every thing has gone smoothly up to the
point of getting the caliper back in place. I have not been able to get
this calipers pistons to compress in order to fit it back over the new
parts. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated on getting those
pistons compressed ( if they even are supposed to compress?)

Sorry for the rather elementray question but I am
out of ideas. And i really do not want spend $ 240.00 dollars on my
friends vehicle for new calipers.

if they are fronts, take the one of the old pads, and put it agaisnt the piston, and squeeze down until it goes in flush...</P>

Yup, Old pads and a C-Clamp always worked for me. Own a '98 Z-28 - brake systems s/b pretty close to identical if not exactly the same.

What I will usually do if it's a dual caliper piston is take one of the pistons and push it back, then lock it back with a big pair of vice-grip pliers, then push the other one back. It seems to work easier than trying to push both back at the same time.
