now i dont have a clue how these internal computers work but i would like to get one...i own a 2001 silverado 1500 4.8l and im lookin for someone to tell me how they workand where i can get one that gives me some horses for a decent price...any suggestions

well with the newer trucks and cars. You don't get a new computer you just reprogram or the correct term re-flash. You can buy a handheld programmer from various maufacturers such as superchips, hypertech or diablo. You can pick up the programmers on ebay cheaper just make sure you get one that is specific to your vehicle. Also one other thing make sure if you buy one on ebay make sure they say it is not vin locked. That is the key. The handhelds are easy to use just yes or no questions and it plugs into the OBD2 port under the steering column. Any questions you have be sure to ask.
