im a college student who will soon purchase a 2000-2002 impala ls. I want to know if it is possible to put a camaro ss motor in it? I know that the older model chevys could switch and swap engines with relative ease but i dont know much about the newer models. any info on this would be appreciated.

first you would have to figure out how to turn a front drive car into a rear drive after that it should be easyer.

You can do anything with enough money, time, and fabrication.

For you though being a college student I doubt you have any of the above. Not trying to put you down or anything but I think you were thinking it was more of a bolt in swap but like the above post the newer impalas are fwd. So of course you would have to modify so much stuff to make it work that even though it would be really cool to see it's soo much work.

Do any of y'all know where the GM vortec engine factory is? I heard those engines came from Mexico or Canada, is this true?

Are You a very wealthy college student? If not, like most of Us, forget the idea of the V8 engine swap. For what it would cost to make the transition, You probably could buy an '07 Impala with the 303HP V8 already in it along with a new car warranty. Have fun. Thanks for listening.
