So why is it that Chevrolet is selling a flexfuel Chevy Malibu, and Pontiac is selling a flex-fuel G-6...but ONLY to fleet vehicle operators?

I have been waiting for years for an ethanol flavored small to midsize car.

And now they are making them for fleet owners, but I can't walk in and order one.

Both have been sold to federal fleet since December, but I can't buy one new.

Why not?

P.S.- While gasoline prices have begun summer spiking, I still am paying $1.71 for E85 near me, but I have a 2005 Dodge Stratus as my flex-fuel ride. As a retired U.S. Army officer, I am NEVER going to buy foreign fuel (straight gasoline) again.

Who knows...
I don't really care for ethanol at all. You get terrible mileage. There are very few E85 stations in my state anyway. Only in the Greesboro Area.

I agree EB but it's nice to have those "corn squeezins" available if and when we need 'em. Had a warning in my 02 Malibu owners manual about to never put that stuff in it. "Flex" is the word.

Yup that "rumatiz" medicine is needed and necessary. Anybody heard about mixin' acetone with your fuel? or how about ether? Supposed to increase the octane level (slow down the burn)? Just askin' not a proponent!!! OK?

FYI - I just purchased a 2009 6 cylinder Malibu LT1 with a flex fuel option. Can't find a whole lot of info out there except through GM fleet program. Kind of stumbled into this car and went with it. Hope I made the right choice. Purchased at Jacobs Chevy in Joliet Illinois.

Well....you have the "option" of using it anyway so after you get it broke in you could try a couple of tanks of it and do a comparison. It would be interesting if you posted the differences in your real world mpg with both gas and E85.

Thanksgiving 2009- November, and still no Flex-Fuel Malibu available.

The EPA's "Fuel Economy.gov" website is now listing a 2.4 liter, 6 speed transmission Flex-Fuel Malibu among the 2010 models sold by Chevy.

But I still can't buy one anywhere.

I'd pony up today if I could order one.

Come on Chevrolet- I NEED a flexfuel Chevy Malibu-

No gasoline for me, ever again. Ever.

Ethanol is cheaper than blood.
