Well, I needed something to play with while I did the axle swap on my Tahoe. I have placed 2nd twice at the mud bog races with this, not bad for $500.

I will be putting together a thread with pics soon. The axle I used was a Dana 44 out of a 88 jeep Wagoneer, it is a little narrow but I fixed that with some spacers and the bolt pattern matches the chevy 6 lug.

I used the rear leaf springs and hangers from an 87 S10 Blazer that I have, they set almost flat with all the weight on them similar to the old K5s. I set it up to match the 6" rear lift and it sits dead level. I think it will work fine for my use and it is easier than a 4 link set up. The funny thing is I only have about $550. in it for the axle, new gears, new warn hubs and everything else is from my stock pile but I am waiting on a new drive shaft including a flange for the transfer case and a larger yoke for the axle pinion from High Angle Driveline, it cost about $800. with shipping. Who would have thought that would be the biggest expense.

yes but you dont want to spare on the driveline and flange...there probably real important when hauling a** mud boggin, what are your plans for steering?..do you happen to know what the length of the rear leafs are, interesting choice though.4 links are a pain to set up right i agree.

Thanks guys, I thought it was pretty good at $500. since he wanted $1,100. for it.
I chose the leaf springs from the rear of an S10 for 2 reasons, 1 I had them and 2 I wanted a fairly soft ride in the front. The length of them is a standard 52" length.
