the sad thing is they'll never even come close to building it. Its actually sad to, cause something like that could really be big with kids of today. Just like what Ford did with the new Mustang, it is pure geniuess to make something that was so popular, it gives everyone a chance to have a peice of history in a modern car.

And GM's version for a Camaro right now is a GTO from Pontiac, and I'm not dissing that car its cool in its own right, its got it all, Power, looks, etc. But its heavy, no-options, and costly. And when they did a test with a 2003 Mustang Mach1 with 300 HP to the GTO's 350 hp they were clearly identical in everything they throw at those two cars.

I'm just sayingChevy needs to pull there heads out of there, @#$&*! and get with the program, we WANT OUR CAMARO BACK!

If they built one that even looked close to that I'd buy it. To bad they wont!

IF CHEVY MADE A NEW CAMARO SIMILAR TO THIS PICTURE, IT WOULD SURELY OUT SELL THE GTO AND SSR COMBINED. SO I SAY BUILD IT. THROW IN THE 400 HP LS2 THATS IN THE NEW VETTE, GTO, AND SSR, GIVE IT A 6 SPEED AND A DECENT REAR DIFFERENTIAL. IT WOULD KICK THE MUSTANGS ASS. I THINK IT NEEDS REASONABLE REAR SEAT SPACE THOUGH. MOST PEOPLE BUY PRACTICAL CARS, AND IF YOU CANT FIT A CHILD SEAT IN THE BACK THEN ITS NOT TO PRACTICAL. I SOLD MY 95 Z-28 WHEN MY DAUGHTER WAS BORN SIMPLY BECAUSE THE REAR SEAT WAS TO SMALL.OF COURSE A LESSER POWERED ( V-6 ) MODEL IS NECCESARY OR YOUNG PEOPLE COULD NEVER AFFORD TO INSURE IT.

YEAH I SURE WOULD WISH THEY WOULD COME OUT WITH THIS CAR, I AM PLANNING ON BUYING A NEW CAR THIS SUMMER, AND I REALLY WANT A CAMARO, BUT I ALSO WANT SOMETHING BRAND NEW, AND IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO IT, DEALERSHIP WILL FIX IT. SO UNFORTANTLEY I'VE BEEN LOOKING AT THE 2005 MUSTANGS. I MEAN THEY LOOK GOOD AND ALL, BUT I WOULD REALLY LIKE A CAMARO.

IT SEEMS PRETTY EASY FOR CHEVY TO COME UP WITH A VIABLE ALTERNATIVE TO THE MUSTANG. THE PREVIOUS CAMARO WASNT RIGID ENOUGH ( NIETHER WAS THE MUSTANG ). A MORE RIGID PLATFORM WOULD BE LESS LIKELY TO RATTLE. LIKE I MENTIONED THE REAR SEAT WAS TO SMALL AND UNCOMFORTABLE. THE BODY WAS NOT THAT HIGH IN QUALITY. THE REAR DIFFRENTIAL SHOULD HAVE BEEN UNDER A VEGA NOT A CAR WITH A HIGH OUTPUT V-8. IF YOU EVER DRAG RACED ONE OF THESE CARS VERY OFTEN, ESPECIALLY WITH A SIX SPEED, THAT REAR END WOULD BE THE FIRST THING TO GO OUT. CAN A 12 BOLT OR EVEN AN 8.6 OR 8.5 INCH 10 BOLT BE THAT MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THE 7.625 S-10 DIFF THAT THESE CARS HAVE? ID GLADLY PAY A FEW MORE BUCKS FOR MORE BEEF. THE CAMARO WAS UNDER STYLED, I.E. KINDA BORING,BUT THE TRANS AM WAS A BIT OVERSTYLED, I.E. KINDA BOY RACER. SO G.M. IF YOUR LISTENING, MAKE A QUALITY CAR,WITH STRONG PARTS, 400 HP LS2, AND DECENT INTERIOR SPACE, AND MAKE IT BEATIFUL FOR $25,000 ( $ 20,000 FOR V6 MODELS) AND YOU WILL HAVE A WINNER.

I read that a lot of you seem to like the new Mustang. I for one, do not. I think it is ugly. I wish they had done something a little different with the body, and the interior is rinky dink at best.

I do like the drawing of the camaro...it is a shame they dropped it from the line, I guess the problem was it was a loser financially to GM...

My opinion only...

that last thing about the GTO being 400 ponys is a load of crap, we dynod one at school, and stock it was 270 RWHP, we puta STS turbo on it and the first run it hit 253 RWHP, it actually lost power, then it finally got close to the 300 RWHP range, but it was very sad..... ive seen hondas do better than that. (obviously not RWHP) in my oppinion, the camaro concept would be beautiful, but theres no way that chevys engineers could make it and be able to sell it for such a small amount, and still turn around a profit. but as a wise man once said, you could sh*t in one hand and dream in another and see which one fills up first.......

from what ive heard they will be building the new camaro, it was
originally scheduled to be produce in 2007, but they pushed back the
release date to 2009, but by that time the retro trend will probably be
over. I also heard that the SS model would has some LS motor in
it and it would be blown

GM had an agreement with a third party in Canada that ANY Camaro would only be produced in Canada. Sadly, GM tore down the plant where the Camaro was made when they discontinued the car, making it near to impossible to ever produce a Camaro again without building another plant exclusively to use for building Camaros. I doubt GM would eat the cost.

Guys as I understand it the new camaro is coming in 2009, as per GM Inside News - Future (http://www.gminsidenews.com/index.php?page=future_guide).
Now, This site says it is going to be built on the same chasis that the GTO is built on, and that the reason for the production gap is because they are re-fitting a factory in the US to build the GTO here instead of in Austrailia. Now with the photo's that are posted all over the net of the new Camaro, I think that it would be nice to have it again. I am partial though to bringing back the Chevelle. I think that it would be a better comparison to the GTO then the camaro is. Just my 2 cents though.:D

"Chevrolet Camaro: Stay tuned.....things are about to get interesting!"
That's all the GM Inside News says! Where did you get all this stuff about it being built on the GTO chasis? And 2009? Chevrolet Camaro wasn't even listed under 2008+! Give me a break dude.

You forgot to mention the 6.0 L 400 HP engine and 6 spd trans its a AWESOME car. It's true awkenney, I picked up an issue of road & track today its in there.Plus their are links too it all over the net. ;) Their is no way this car will sell between 20k -25k I think they will price it between 25k - 40k It's pretty much got the corvette suspention on a GTO chassis 20 in frnt wheels and 21 in on the rear... this car is sharp and I am very impressed with what I have seen so far... a V6 option eeerrrrmmmmm...I dont think they will... I'm optin for the V8 myself when and if its avaliable.
I do like the look of the new Camaro. I'm going to really try and get a better job by the time it comes out (still with GM, hopefully) and be able to get one of these a few years after it's out (let them work some kinks out).

there's only one problem with the new Camaro, that big ugly bowtie grill. R they trying to make it look like a truck? it looks like they lifted it from the new Silverado's. i hope they change it in production, besides the grill issue (to me personally) i think the car looks great-and it should be made to easily keep pace with new 'stangs, and little tuning req'd to beat one!
