New Chevy guy here. Does the harmonic balancer bolt go over the crank pulley on a small block chevy? Seems like the balancer should have a shoulder and the bolt gets recessed inside the balancer snout. Any help is greatly appreciated

Hi,If you compare the balancer bolt/washer to the center of the crank pulley you will see the washer passes easily through the center of the pulley.No the pulley is not held on by the balancer bolt,it can be removed separately.This applies to most older small blocks,some earlier models were an interference fit and had no bolt.
