I have a 98 Chevy Venture and heard nightmares about the intake gaskets and headgaskets going bad. My heat sensor in the car doesn't work either. I have notice I have to add coolant all the time and there is either oil or dirty coolant inside. This is a 3.4 engine. Do I need to replace the intake gaskets? I have replaced the water pump already. If I have to replace the intake gasket, how hard is this? What are the torque specs? Any tips?

i had what appeared to be oil in my coolant resovoir for the 3.4l but it turns out it was mold that grew inside that looked like oil, you might have the same problem, i ended up having to flush the cooling sytem b/c it was so black from this mold

Mold than lives in antifreeze ??? That's scary.

If it were oil it would be cream colored scum. If the head gasket was gone you could see bubbles in the coolant usually caused by the exhaust stroke from the cylinder.
