Won't start unless I hit the unlock on key fob

I have a 2007 Tahoe and it will not start unless I hit the unlock button on the key fob. Now my sons 2009 avalanche started the samething. Any ideals??

I'll bite.

So you have to hit unlock on the fob and then use your key to start the vehicle?
