Default Opening Trunk on Bolt EV

I am the proud new owner of a Bolt.

There is one problem (where I think the designers have been too smart for their own good).

When I am the driver and I am dropping off my child (e.g. at swimming or dancing) or picking someone up at the airport I want to be able to unlock the trunk without getting out of the car. This is NOT possible.

The process I have to go through is:
1. press the unlock button (for all doors)
2. open the driver's door
3. then the person at the rear of the car can open the trunk
4. shut the driver's door
5. wait for the trunk to be closed
6. driver off

In a normal car I can simply
1. press the unlock button
3. then the person at the rear of the car can open the trunk
5. wait for the trunk to be closed
6. driver off

Does anyone know a way around this?
This needs to be reported to Chevy.
It is really annoying - I have owned the car for 2 days and already had to go through this process 5 times (aside from having to diagnose the problem!)

Did you confirm with the dealership this is normal operation for that vehicle?

Remember the good old days of a cable actuated mechanical trunk/hatch release?

Default Park

Simply put the car in Park and anyone can open the "trunk".
