Default P0013 Code

I replaced my VVT Solenoid this morning per code P0013. My check engine light is still on. Does this reset itself if the problem is fixed or does it need to be reset manually? If manually, how do you do that!? Also, I've got to say, disconnecting/reconnecting the electrical wires to the Solenoid sure was difficult! Any tips on how to do this without struggling with it for nearly an hour?

You can disconnect the battery cable, then reconnect it
