1999 cavalier, turns over but no start
I have a 1999 Chevy cavalier 2.2 OHV engine that will turn over but will not start.
My daughter was driving it when it died and would not restart.
I have checked for trouble codes, none were found
Replaced the fuel filter.
Checked all spark plugs for spark, all were good.
Sprayed starter fluid into throttle body
Checked for gas pressure, 43 psi.
Checked the fuel injection connectors with a noid light, they are pulsing.
There is a security light that is on constantly on the dash board not flushing.
I also tried starting with the remote car starter, it would just turn over with that as well.
unplugged remote car starter, still would just turn over
I am at my wits end, I have spark, fuel and air, from what i understand that should make fire
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like the problem lies in the distributor, the distributor that decides exactly when each one of the spark plugs is to fire. If they're not firing when they're supposed to, then obviously things are gonna get rough. A rough idle and misfiring doesn't automatically mean the distributor is bad,

Have you disconnected the battery and let it sit for a while to see if the security light goes off. This is activated by the Body Control Module and will keep the car from starting. the 99 2.2 should not have a distributor (I believe) and spark and fuel timing should come off the crank and cam sensors. These two sensors should throw a code. I would check the crank senors a well just to be sure.

Turns out I had a broken timing chain.
Nothing was damaged in the engine when it broke as this is a non interference engine.
I replaced timing chain and now it runs better than ever, quiet and smooth.
