Default 911 its dead !

hey every one , im in a bind & stuck on the side of the road & thought i would see if any one has some advice or suggestions as to whats happening here......i got a 05 with a 2.2 & was driving & it started to sputter & hesitate
, then died , i cranked it over a few times & nothing , so i pounded on the fuel tank a few times & it fired back up but only ran for a few more kms then died again & now i had to leave it.....im going to go back after work & try to do what i can to get it mobile any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated ! thanks to everyone !!!!
also , theres a plastic box behind the tank....anyone know what that is ??

Sounds like it could be the fuel pump. Spray some starter fluid into the throttle body and if runs for a few seconds it is the fuel pump.
