Default 4T40E Input Shaft Speed Sensor

Anyone ever replace an Input Shaft Speed Sensor on a 4T40E Transmission? AllData has some comflicting pictures. I am pretty sure I have to pulls the trans and take off a cover, but one picture on Alldata shows it possibly being external.

Nevermind...I found a more detailed schematic on Alldata. This job is not going to be fun. I have to remove the trans and remove the valvebody to get to this sensor. 10 plus hours of fun for a $16 sensor. I will have it torn apart far enough I should really consider just finishing the job and rebuilding it.
