Default Timing Chain replacement 1996 2.2L

I am in the process of replacing the timing chain on my mother's 1996 2.2L cavalier. Where are the marks on the cam and crank sprocket? Also which direction should the marks be on this year and engine? Any information is greatly appreciated. Is there any preventive maintenance that is recommended while i am in there? Thank you in advance!

Default RE: Timing Chain replacement 1996 2.2L

I usually mark the chain, cam, and sprockets as I'm taking the timing chain assembly apart... that way, I know which way the chain came off as well. Sounds like you're past that point though.. and I don't know the 90-97 2.2L engines very well... so I'll suggest checking out www.j-body.org forums for that kind of information
