Default 05 Cobalt Alarm Keeps Going Off

I recently purchased an 05 cobalt and there is a problem.
Every time I open the door or the trunk the alarm starts to go off.

A little background:
The electronic lock buttons do not work and I do not have the fob for the car.
Is there any way that I can get this fixed cheaply?

that is normal operation. the content theft is only disarmed by the fob unlock signal.

lock the door manually so the content theft system is not armed

The fobs were discarded for a reason by the seller.

Locking the doors manually is the cheapest way to stop the alarm but realize that the content system is not armed soit will not go off for a theft situation.

I started having the same problems in my '05 Cobalt last night. I haven't used the remote in a couple of years (replaced batteries but still wouldn't work) and the electronic locks on both doors wouldn't work so I've been manually locking/unlocking with no problem.

Last night my fiancee and I are driving and my doors randomly unlocked as if someone had hit the button. I went to leave a couple of hours later and my alarm went off when I unlocked and opened the door. I've scrolled through my dash and the thing says RKE, not passive. Even if I manually lock the door the alarm will still go off when I unlock it. When I push the locks down the yellow security thing flashes on the dash.

I'm really trying to avoid buying another key.

there is a tsb for that. The door lock switches are corroded and sticking.

Any idea how to fix it? Working on cars is pretty foreign to me.

remove the door lock switches and inspect them. If they are have green corrosion, clean or replace them.

leave them disconnected and if the problem does not return you can be sure that is/was the problem.

Just an update on the issue..

I ordered a new remote yesterday, so last night I'm leaving the hockey rink and lately my alarm would go off would go off when the door was opened and nothing last night. Same thing when I left for work this am, no alarm. I have not a clue as to what's going on.

Manually...and have been for a couple of years now... Makes sense right? Well the past few days when the alarm was going off I was still manually locking the doors. I even tried leaving the door unlocked and the alarm still went off.. Mind boggling

without and scan tool data, its hard to diagnose. Why don't you disconnect the lock switches and see if the problem goes away. It may be related to the mentioned tsb for bad lock switches.
