Cobalt This sporty compact was faced with the difficult job of replacing the popular Cavalier, but whether the base model, or the supercharged SS is chosen, is has made for a great replacement.

Question 2005 cobalt ls overheating .

hi how are you doing? i am new to this but it seems like a good way to get some help. i am coming home from a 6 month deployment and my car was driven while i was gone at least once a week. i noticed today that my temp was at 215 so i pulled over and shut my car down. i checked the coolant level and it is about a inch above the fill line. so i started my car and the fan never turns on. so i replaced the two relays and i tested the 2 fuses they were good. i tested the fan and it read 12 ohms which is good. and now im not sure where to go from there and i cant aford to take it to the dealership to spend 80 dollars to find out that a 2 dollar sensor is bad. i can not find the location of the fan sensor but i didnt have alot of time to look for it because i had to go to work. also my cobalt is the 2.2l ls.

Welcome to the forum. The fuses have little probe holes on top so that the voltage can be measured without their removal. Check:

Voltage levels at the 30A Cooling Fan fuses, both of them
Continuity to ground at the cooling fan, black wire

Also, see if the cooling fan will run with the A/C compressor on.
