Default Forgot to prime oil pump

My son and I have 1986 CHEVY PU W/305 TB. We paid to have the engine rebuilt, and when we got it back began assembling. We got it together, put the engine back in, got the trans on, Drive shaft in. Filled it with fluids, oil, trans, coolant. We hooked up the power and started it up. It ran right away, but the Oil Pressure did not come up right away. We turned it off. Restarted a few more times running for only seconds at a time. No Pressure. The next day, trying to figure out why, we turned it over again, and this time the pressure came up to about 30PSI. Since then it always comes up, but I do not see oil flowing over the rockers in the valve. I do not see any oil in the valve area when we take off the filler plug.

Even though I show pressure (a little) i'm not sure if we are getting oil all through.

What can I do now to make sure?
