help decoding bbc 454 stamp / casting
Hello everyone. I recently came across a 454 I am building but am having trouble determining what rings I need. I tried to cross reference the stamp on the passenger side deck but have been unable. Anyone out there have the resources to do so.
casting - 10114182 I know this is the 91-95 gen V identification
Another casting next to the above A275
Stamp on top of passenger side deck TH01XXT5
From my reading the stamp has a prefix and suffix which should determine what it came from as well as date. I cant find either anywhere online. Maybe im doing it incorrectly
My main concern is the oil rings. I have been told that I need shallow oil rings however my measurements dont come out to what my supplier says I should have. The depth of my oil ring groove measures .1335 deep. My supplier said that even his shallow oil rings measure thicker than that which would cause it to bind. I think he said .1440. Any thoughts as to what I need.
If it helps i pulled the GM casting number off the inside of the piston and found 10166821
Thanks in advance.
