Default 2007 Chev Equinox

Lift gate stopped working, will not open at all unless emergency latch from inside is pushed. Changed fuse and still not working. Electronic pad instead of mechanical latch. Anyone else had this problem? Hopefully I can fix myself as bumper to bumper warranty just ran out. HELP!

And it's just the lift gate that stopped functioning? Which fuse did you change out?

It happened after I got a boost and had to change several fuses.

Ok. Can you answer my previous questions? Which fuses did you change out and is it just the tailgate that's nonfunctioning.

Yes, it is the tailgate that is now the only thing not working. I changed the fused for the radio, turn signals and door locks. I changed the 15 amp fuse for the tailgate and double checked several times to make sure I had the right fuse indicated on the diagram.

Did you check for any blown fuses in your engine compartment fuse block?

No, is it possible there are fuses in there for the liftgate?

Originally, I thought no. And based off of the wiring diagram, it doesn't appear there are any fuses specifically for that.

I don't think it would hurt to take a look in there just to make sure something goofy isn't affecting the tailgate.

I can't remember but I think if the vehicle is running, you cannot unlock the back gate? I know the tailgate in my Liberty acts strangly like that. I'll have to check my wife's Nox for tailgate restrictions.

Also, have you tried this fix on page 108? Give that a shot.

Default Fuse for Lift Gate

There is a fuse panel on the passenger side of the center console (to the right of the radio). It is fuse #4. My problem was not the fuse though. The mechanism that contains a motor to release the latch was stuck. I tore it apart and unstuck it. The flat membrane switch that opens the liftgate was also faulty. It is removed easily from the outside by removing two screws.
