What could cause my equinox not to go backwards when in reverse?? Have checked fluid, checked shift cables, range sensors. Not wanting to drop transmission unless I have to. Has anyone else had this issue?? When in reverse and every other gear it goes forward. No problems with any other gears either

Is the vehicle AWD or FWD? Is the check engine light on? If so, have you had the codes scanned? Is the parking brake fully disengaged?

Also, elaborate on the symptoms. Any strange noises? Does it feel like reverse is engaging at all? Does the engine feel like it's under load or does it rev freely like it's in neutral when you give it gas?

It is a awd. When in all gears it was going forward no matter what. But after checking range sensor, shift cable, shifter **** it goes forward in all gears (including neutral) but now when it is in reverse it doesn't move at all. When you put it in reverse it sounds like it engages but won't move. It also revs higher when in reverse but revs normal in other gears
