1976 GMC Vandura long v. short water pump
Rttecently I noticed a leak coming from my water pump. Nothing serious, but I find I have to top up the coolant every week or so.
Looking at the water pump I cant tell if the leak is from the front due to a previously over-tightened alternator belt, or if it is leaking from the back.
I tried adding dye and checked a day later with a blue flashlight but the coolant splatters everywhere because of the fan and doesn't give good indication of the origin.
Right now as I am trying to fix this van up and make it look as good as it runs, I am thinking of just picking up a new water pump.
I don't know whether this is a short or long pump. Looks like, from other users' definitions, that the pump is a long pump.
If i provide some images, could someone tell me for sure?
Also for someone from Hamilton, Ontario does anyone know any good parts shops?

Just as a useful followup, 1976 gmc vandura uses a long water pump.
For users in or around hamilton, ontario A&A Discount Auto parts has the water pump for about $40 tax in. They may have to order in the pump as it may not be in stock.
Took me about 2 hours to drain the rad, remove the fan, shroud, alternator, alt mounting bracket, and pump, get the new pump and gaskets on, and everything back together and refill the coolant and test.

Bonjour,
Cordialement,
Carl-Dave
