1999 Express Shifting/Speedometer Issue.
At 173k I had the trans professionally rebuilt. I did the removal and reinstall myself. For the first year it ran fine, shifted fine. Over the last year I have had this periodic issue where the transmission hesitates shifting from 1-2 and 2-3. Almost like the engine misses. At the same time the speedo will jump from 0-30ish and as it shifts will drop then spike again. As it downshifts it will jump around like that as well. The abs light will come on with this sometimes as well. The last few times the light has come on. The only other thing I noticed is when the van runs and shifts normal the motor seems to go through a warm up period where the rpm are higher. This has happened about 5-6 times now the longest period was 2-3 weeks down to a couple of days. The first time it happened it hadn't been driven for a few weeks and was parked outside. It seems to do this after a period of no being run. Where do I begin?

Check for codes with a scan tool. Perhaps one of the many sensors on that van is bad. Could cause issues with shift points. also, when was the fluid and filter changed last? Bad fluid could also delay shift points and clutch lockup.
