Can anyone tell me if the nuts thet retain the idler arm bracket are permanently attached to the inside of the frame.If I remove the 2 bolts holding it will the nuts stay in place as I don't see anyway to get at them,Thanks Paul

I don't think so. My repair manual says to remove the bolts, and on the reassemble part, to torque the nuts properly....

Thanks canucklehead,What manual are you using,I was going to buy a Haynes as it is the only one in my area. My van is not usable or I would order a GM Manual.Maybe I will download a GM on line as its the same price,$30.00 as the Haynes at the auto parts store.Paul

I have the haynes. Unfortunately there is no diagram for that particular step. Perhaps the Chilton one does....

Update,I just came from the Auto Zone web site.They have free repair instructions,its a good incentive to buy from them,They have pictures and instructions that say remove the bolts holding the bracket and when you replace it,it says replace the bolts and gives you the torque number,doesn't say any thing about nuts so I am going to remove it will let you know what happens.the reason I am removing it is to change the flexible brake hose as there is no room to turn a wrench with the idler arm in the way.Paul
