Default 91 g20 has power but won't turn over when warm, but seems fine when cold.

This has me confused. When it's warm, I get nothing when I turn the key. The ignition switch seems to be working(the radio and stuff turns off when I turn the key to the start end). All the other electrical stuff works great. The battery is pretty new.
When it's cold, like early this morning it started right up. And it runs great. Drove it around, came home, turned it off. Then it wouldn't start.
What the hell?

How did it go? On some of the older starters I have given them a wack or two with a hammer to get going again till I got to a place to install a new one.
