Default Alternator question

Hi guys..

Something has been annoying me for some time..

My old alternator gave up, got a "new" one from the scrap yard..

The old one had 4 connections, the new one had two.
The wiring from the truck only used two, so I cut off two of the
connections... everything work fine. Been driving it for 6 months like
this and no issues..

But my question is why did the voltage drop from 14.2 to 13.5 with
the new alternator?

Just a question is it possible to adjust the voltage somewhere?
On the alternator that is?

The alternator came from the same type of truck that I have one year or two was the diffrence between them..

Mine is an Savana 1500 -05

Any ideas?

//Michael
