One thing I don't care for with my slider is that I'm pretty much stuck with stock tires unless I lift it high enough to clear the slider.

I find the paint flakes on the hinges on the barn doors, and the hinges sticking out kinda ruins the look of the van. I like the slider, but both have pros and cons otherwise.

I know this is an old thread but looking for feedback from anyone on the newer vehicles are they easier to slide on the slider? I've had three Express is over the years and all of them had the barn doors and quite honestly I hate them. Issues always arise with the straps of hold them open, door hinge pins flaking paint on the hinge and last but not least severe squeaking once they age. My next one's going to have a slider I'm just looking for feedback from anyone that has one now? Anyone have one on a truck that's at least 10 years old? I run mine pretty long.

Well... my slider is now 10 years old and still sliding. Always had to give her a hard close or else she won't latch. I did have to replace the handle at one point, I believe part of it broke and became inoperative. Other than what I mentioned earlier in this thread I may have to favor the slider due to the hinge issues with the swing outs. I had those too and they lock up after awhile. I too keep my Van's for 10 years.

My 3yo son can shut the sliding door on our '15 from the inside and outside.
