Default Glove box

I just got a new van from my employer. Slightly used 2015 Chevrolet express 2500. My last van was 2008 Chevrolet express. This new one does not have a glove box door like the 2008. It is just an open compartment on the front of the engine cover. I'd this typical? I have been looking to see if I can change it out but haven't found any info either way. Any help would be great.

The glove box location typically has the passenger airbag.

I think you need to swap the console that covers the engine cover. Try a used auto parts or auto wrecker. You must have the base trim level on that van.
