My 225,000 Mile Service Inspection
Hello All!
My '90 Chevy G20 just went past 225,000 miles and I figured it would be a good time to do a thorough inspection since I had yet to go through it properly. (I've owned her for nearly 4 years and haven't even rode her for 4k. Used mostly for band gigs sparingly). Before i get roasted, she has been a good and solid van besides a few drips underneath for a while. :-/ I wonder what I will find?
So without any further explanation, I present my 225,000 mile findings:
First thing found:
Uh oh. Not lookin' good. As soon as I lay out under the van I see that. Great. Fresh too!
Then:
Just coated with oily mucky gunk.
Sure enough! Oil Pan Gasket leak. Video will be posted soon for verification & entertainment purposes.
Lets see how these puppies are after bathing in this thick slick:
Uhh. . . . Soft to the touch? Is this normal?
Next, make my way to the back:
oh boy, transmission leak on the pan. Looks like it will be "Gasket Weekend '10" in a tomorrow. How exciting!
Thought it was all over with, UNTIL:
NOT to mention the misc stuff: leaking oil pressure sensor, broken windshield washer pump, Oil filler tube grommet in pieces, inoperable PVC valve, crankcase vent hose broken & grommet leaking. Anyone else seeing a pattern of A TON OF OIL?
