Fuse for the tail lights/dash keeps blowing as soon as the headlights are switched on. Had a similar problem with my belair so went ahead and replaced the switch. Still blowing the fuse. Looking for a short, front running lights look good, back passenger side has melted wiring coming from the break light (brown, green and yellow)up to what I think is the center break light ( it is toasted with rust). Trying to find the brown wire that powers the back lights but can't locate it, this van has a conversion. Does anyone know what side the electrical runs to the back on? Brake lights work, as do signals. Pervious owner has ran a 2 new wires under the center on the van to the brake bulk assembly, still ting to figure that all out thanks for the help

If you have rusty sockets then that is where I would start. Rewire what you cannot clean up. You can get replacement sockets cheap.
Also check all the grounds.....89 is a long time ago...lol.

Found the short. The brown wire coming from the headlight switch going to the driver side brake light is melted. It has melted the orange wire coming out of the headlight switch, I believe this is the supply. Can anyone confirm this for me? Would a faulty switch cause this? Or something else?
