I am doing a base to chrome grille swap...I bought the light shells and lamps and connectors...The 3 pin connector that comes off the stock sealed beam harness has a red wire for low beams... a blue wire for high beams and a black wire for ground..


The 4 headlight lamps have only a hot and a ground.


The obvious hook up is to ground everything and connect red to the low lamp and blue to the high beams


BUT....


this gives me only 2 lights on at any time. either my low beams are on or my high beams are on...


how do I get all 4 on during the high beam cycle?


Do I need to add a diode or a relay...or is there a quicky fix kit out there???please help.

what vehicle? did all 4 come on when it was stock?

there weren't 4 lights.....it comes with 2 sealed beams (hence the 3 prong connector)....I'm converting it to the composite lights.

high beams and low beams are never on at the same time. The relay switches power when you flip the switch.
Just splice the grounds and run the hots to each respective light.

Do you have the composite headlights? Are you sure they both aren't always on in high beam mode?


I had a Silverado in 1995 and Stylin trucks use to sell a quad light adapter..it was the *****.....I think it was a relay.

In your diagram you will need something that will allow the current to flow in one direction. Otherwise the low beam current will back feed the high beam. What gizmo goes in there is the question... hopefully someone will know and chime in.

His blue and red is already after the relay. He just needs to put blue to high and red to low, and splice the grounds.
As for the need for all 4 to be on at once. That makes for more problems, since the wiring is not meant for that. The relay likely won't take it nor will the fuse. It would require more mods......not worth it IMO.

Hi, on my 2008 Express 1500 with composite headlights, all four light up when the high beams are on.

Well, they don't on my 2002. I have the side by side composite lights, and they switch back and forth.
Maybe you could check the part number on your relay, and pass it along to the OP so he can compare it to what he has.
