oil pans difference between 6L80 and 6L90?
Hello
I have a 2014 ext. Express 3500 with a 6L90.
the 6L90 housing is slightly longer than the 6L80.
is it equal to the oil pans?
I would like to do an oil change and a build on a deeper pan with a temperature sensor and drain plug.
fit also the 6L80 oil pans?
There's a cheap oil pan?

you can braise a drain nut onto the existing pan, and add a temp sensor on the external cooling line that goes to the cooler/rad can you not?
more oil, more reserve / security

at first, the cheap version.
If I change the oil, I will upgrade a drain plug into the original oil pan and install a temperature sensor there.
then, I will watch the temperatures and further decide.
as far as I found out the oil pans are not the same.
the 6 l 90 is longer, such as the housing also and that forms are slightly different.

True, but i don't agree that a pint or two more fluid will make any more difference than regular fluid and filter changes, Also you could increase volume by swapping the factory aux cooler for a larger one. Unless you are pulling a trailer up a mountain all day every day I would not worry about it.
