Default Speedo & Odometer not working, tried many things, suggestions?

Have a 2000 Chevy Express 1500 V6, speedo and odometer do not work, i first tried the speed sensor on the tranny with no luck, then got a hole cluster off ebay with similar miles and still a no go, what else should i look at, i know the tranny was replaced bfor i bought it n it still looks fresh underneith however i'm woderin if they could have forgotten a pick up internally for the speed sensor if there even is such a thing?

also forgot to ad i took the cluster cover off and removed and remounted the speedo needle to an accelerated position just to check if it zeroed itself out there when the ignition was turned to see if the motor was good and it does move from the pin to 20mph where i randomly put it when i turn the van on
