1986 chevy pickup 350 motor "no spark"
i have no spark on my 1986 chevy pickup with a 350 motor, i changed the module, rotor, dist cap and coil, still no spark, can anybody help?

The poor thing is 24 years old.
At this point, unless you need the original distributor for emissions, I would get rid of it.
Pertronic's and MSD and several other companies makes a direct replacement distributor which will drop right in and only needs one wire for power and will work better then what you presently own.
I would say that the pick up coil is bad - but me being here and you being there - there is no way for me to diagnose your problem over the internet.
There should be 4 wires coming out of the pick up coil and no vac advance on that model.
If you cut the wiring harness on the distributor side and connect the first wire in the harness on the distributor side with the 4th wire - you will bypass the computer and then if it still doesn't run - you know that the pick up coil is bad or that the timing chain broke or that the distributor gear is bad on the end of the shaft on the distributor.
Either way - it's probably time to get a new truck - don't you think?

in 86 they didnt have fuel injection in the trucks, check for power coming to the distributor, if power is going to it, i would have to agree and change it, they get a lot of slop in the bearings as well as it not workin, u can get 1 from msd with the cap and rotor for 175 bucks, and dont buy a new truck, in 10 years your truck will still be runnin strong and 2010 models will be pounded out

if your going to replace the distributor i would not spend $175 on a MSD. no performance gain, to finicky if a little moisture get into them. go local parts store and buy a stock replacement with a life time warranty and call it a day...

2 years on mine, but not in a 4wd so no mud tests to speak of, the benifit is the adjustable vacum advance but that could mess him up if he has emission standards to follow

thanks it was the pickup coil..had no trouble installing it and everything went well..it is a good old solid truck..thanks again and i'll put in good marks for you all
