1995 chevy caprice 5.7 lt1 keeps shutting off
my 1995 chevy caprice with the 5.7 lt1 has been in the shop since 7/4/2009 and the mechanics can not figure the problem out. the car will cut off with no warning and then will not start back up. after sitting for a couple of hours it will start right back up. the icm, ignition coil, the ignition coil plug, the maf sensor and plug have all been changed. now the want to direct wire the distributor to see if the plug is bad. Does anybody know what could be causing this problem? Any help would be very appreciated.

Take it to a different shop. Why do they want to direct wire the dis. When it will not start what is missing? Fuel pressure (like stated above) spark? Injector pulse?

Thanks for the replies. when it dies the car has good fuel pressure, the car has spark but i'm not sure about the injector pulse, i will have to ask them about that today. For some reason they seem to think it is something electrical.
