350 build
hey iv got a 76 k10 shortbed pick up. is it possible to get 500hp out of a 350 without boring it. i found an edlebrock top end kit that will give me 410 hp and 408 ft lb of tourqe. but what can i do to the lower end to reach my 500 goal?

i dont know if headers and exhast will do it alone. im planning on doing headers and exhast on it and flat top pistons with the kit but im not sure how much that will add.

Yeah, 1Gary's spot -on.
The real question is will the setup provide enough horsepower for your actual needs?
In simplest terms, 500 HP is just a number. Will the top-end rebuild with the headers and D/E give you enough, or will you go to the expense of dyno-ing up 550 HP and then find it's not enough?
The D/E should provide a lot of thrust, and the best thing about headers, IMO, is the heat they sponge off the engine, compared to cast-iron exhaust manifolds.
