IDENTIFY PISTONS IN A 327
Hi, guys:
I'm totally new to this forum, and I have a question for you guys. My buddy bought a 37 Chevy coupe street rod with is supposed to be a 375 hp 327. Not being knowledgable about Chevy V8s - I'm trying to find out just what we have. The engine ID numbers are missing from the machined pad at the passenger front of the block, so I pulled one head and measured the bore - 4.031 X 3.250 stroke = .030 over 327 ????? The pistons are "pop up" marked with part number 7002P .030. Can anybody identify this piston by manufacturer, compression ratio, forged / cast etc. etc. ???? I need your knowledge, please! Wayne

Thanks so much for your response! I was VERY concerned about this engine, as we were told "by a friend of a friend" that this was a 375 HP 327 - I had an awful feeling about it when I could find no ID numbers on the passenger side front of the block (perhaps they were milled off if and when the block was "decked". Now I feel a LOT more comfortable since you've identified the pistons for me. Thanks again for your learned response.
