Default Fluid Level Check on '04 Cavi

Need some insight on checking the fluid level on a '04 manual trans axle Cavalier, seems to be leaking slightly around one of the axle seals and probably should check the level, seems it is shifting a little funny.

Remember a manual trans. Thanks

Do you have a dipstick for the transaxle? If not you may have to get under the car and find two screws on your transaxle. One screw at the bottom and one on the side. Both screws should either have a allen type head on them or a square head. You'll need to unscrew the one on the side of the transaxle. Once you unscrew it put your pinky finger in there and try reach towards the bottom. If you don't find any fluid on your finger, then you would need to put more fluid in it.

You said it was shifting funny right? Are the gears grinding a little? that will be a sign of low fluid.
