Default help me~

hey guys 97 s-10, very hard to start give up at times, bought it for 150. sometimes i can get it running and after doing the fuel filter, plugs wires, and one coil. when it starts it will run decent, i drove it and it is smooth, starting it seems to be harder when its warm out side but once it has been running i can shut it down and start it again. if i give it more then 1/2 throttle it doesnt do so hot but still climbs rpms, no codes stored or pending. any other thoughts?

Hey papermill125,welcome to the forum.
Have you looked for vacuum leaks. Also have your fuel pressure checked with a gage, these engines seem to have a problem there.

Weak pumps and clogged pick-ups are not uncommon in trucks with that much experience.

hey guys the truck has 159k on her. shes broke in a lil. i havent tried compression ( i dont have that sort of tools i worked mainly suspension when i was a mechanic) and no money at the moment to get them ( just had a baby boy) but i did buy a fuel ppressure reg but the torx is rounded holding the regulator on... its a biznitch to get to. any ideas how to get it out? how would i go about testing for a weak pump? just the fuel pressure gauge?

4 cyl ,right? Remove fuel rail & get it on a table. Those bolts GM used on the regulator seem to be a little 'soft'. Also, if 4 cyl, it seems the head bolts stretch quite easily if a tad of coolant gets in cylinder(s). Check compression.

Check for weak pump by pushingpurge/sample button with engine running, pressure should not change. Fuel pressure should be around 50 psi w/engine running.
